FRC: I finally tried D'Artagnan's mail order duck confit and it was excellent ....

I've been buying their raw duck legs to make my own confit, but this time I added one cooked leg to the order to try it out. I recommend it--the piece I received was smaller than the raw legs they sell, and twice the price, but it was perfectly cooked and as good as those I've had in France. I pan-fried it and we were fighting over it.

I'll still buy the raw legs when I need a lot because of the savings, but it's nice to know I can get quality confit without making it myself.

Joe, did you know that Alpine Village in Torrance carries some D'Artagnan products? Not sure

if they carry the confit, but I will check the next time I am there. It would save you shipping if you could pick it up there, plus they have the most wonderful sausages and saurkraut.

No kidding! I've probably driven by there a thousand times, but I've never gone in. Thanks!
