Fri. nite birthday dinner menu...

I think I have mentioned this but for family birthdays the party person gets to choose a menu for Fri. night dinner. Last night was my s-i-l and he chose the menu.

Youvarlakia Avgolemono - Evelyn from Athens

Guacomole -Rosa Mexica

Leg of lamb - Julia

Mashed garlic potatoes

Greek salad -Evelyn (who best to know about greek salad !! It was excellent)

His dessert choice was Key lime pie but we don't have limes in yet and I couldn't even find lime juice so he has a rain check on that. Instead we had a chocolate birthday cake (his daughter told me to make a bear since it is his favorite animal - so bear it was) and lots of fruit.

Anyway I was wishing we could contact Evelyn- she posts on Recipezaar - anyone a member there?

If we could just let her know we are here she might pop in.

I served the guacamole after the soup, while we were carving the lamb and putting the potatoes together. I put a bowl of corn chips on the table and some ate with that (especially the kids) and some with a spoon.

 
Watch out... I may just show up. There are no rules for the birthday dinner...

most plan a menu with a bit of theme (like Italian) but some like my daughter just throw in everything they love.
And you might get here before I get there so then I will make one for you!!

 
Oh, and please send several kilos of the key limes. The recipes are backing up and then I have to...

try and cook everything with limes in a few weeks time. This year I am going to juice a few kilos and freeze.

 
how many key limes could you stuff into a flat rate box?? plenty I think. You must count them and

weigh it for us----what a fun box that would be to receive!
