Friday - for us, it's Foods of Convenience Night. What do you guys make on Fri nights?

As much as I don't like to admit it, Fridays are when my husband wants to eat junk food. So pizza rolls, nachos, and such are the popular choices...

oh waaahhhh. I so miss Friday night fish fry out in the midwest. just not the same ordering fish

off the menu at a regular restaurant. Gimme the fish fry at the local bar or the service club or by the church ladies, maybe with some pierogies thrown in too. drooling.

Sometimes tacos, pork, beef or fish. Tonight it's a shrimp and zucchini pasta. I think most people

like something easy at least one night a week. Here it's either Friday or Sunday. My daughter still is nostalgic for the tuna salad sandwiches and gazpacho we occasionally had on Sunday nights when she was an adolescent. She especially remembers because we would sit at the kitchen bar and watch 60 minutes while eating. It was a special treat for her to watch TV while eating, even if it was 60 minutes.

Gas station food for 3 - for Fridays and most birthday celebrations

Our local gas station houses the most incredible Middle Eastern restaurant - Mr. Kabob - winner many times of local "Best Gas Station Food" contests. Their dinner for 3 will easily feed 4 big adults for two nights, with some left over! We get the salad and rice (instead of soup and fries choices) and a side of their fantastic humous. The guys are so very nice! And the gas station (including the stylish powder room!) is very, very clean. Colleen

This is what I made last night...

"Friday Night Movie Dinner"

Grilled Cheddar and Apple Butter on 7-whole grain bread with rosemary snipped into the skillet before adding the sandwiches to grill.

Homemade Chicken, Garlic, and Basil Consomme

Big Bowl of popcorn.

Brideshead Revisted in the DVD.

Was just in NYC earlier this week and had Ray's pizza for the first time,

really good. Also had John's Pizza (major yum) and a few others around town....all incredibly good! As much pizza as we had you'd think we'd be pizza-ed out, but we're not. There's something about the pizza in NYC that's different from here in California. I'm pining for more. ;o)

I made chicken tenders rolled in a tortilla with baby greens and yellow tomato ..

with a lemon mayo
some pino grigio
and my guilty pleasure, season 5 of Dallas on the DVD. ( I LOVED that show. Total cheese)

We loved it! Actually, we loved all the New York pizza we had. I also had

some stromboli and calzones which were great. It was an eat-a-thon trip....LOL.

"Rotini Gratiné"

Brown ground beef with some onions and garlic, throw in a jar of spaghetti sauce with a can of tomato sauce. Cook a box of rotini pasta, drain, toss with sauce. Pour mixture into a lasagna pan, top with shredded mozz, bake until cheese is bubbly, run under broiler for a couple minutes to finish off. Serve with a bagged Caesar's salad.
