Friend of a friend was Tony Bourdain's beer companion this week in Prague...

Awesome! Wonder if he was recognized in Prague? Here in Seattle it was embarassing.

We hosted Tony for an event and women were falling all over him! One woman even stuck her hand down his pants (not that he discouraged her) and it made it into the press. Ugh.

Gosh. That's horrifying. I doubt he was too recognized in Prague--the show doesn't

air there, but it's not often you get tv crews trailing people into pubs, so I'm sure there was some buzz.

I thought I was sitting next to him on the subway a couple of weeks ago, but it turned out to just be a tall guy stealing his style. smileys/wink.gif (And then I had to admit that there was no way Bourdain took the subway anymore.)

It's funny seeing TV people and their crew -- especially when you have no idea who they are.

There's buzz for the simple fact that they are filming but not because of their star power.

I hosted Tony & crew a couple years ago. We filmed right after the 1st season aired and I kept telling everyone that he was coming into town. Only the die-hard food fans knew him then. Most the people I talked to would respond, "Tony who?"

So when I had lunch with Mark Bittman last spring I was banking on the same response. No such luck. We had a neverending stream of people stopping by our table. Our interview was a total bust!

From that moment, I went on the hunt for a place I could conduct interviews without much of a public audience.... smileys/smile.gif Ah well, lesson learned.
