this really seems to be quite doable---just drops of food coloring with the syrup poured over and then swirl a bit. I think I could even do this.

 
GBH finding...you can make stained glass by melting crushed Lifesavers

But you won't get anything as delicate as the swirls she made.

Also, Brach's works the best. Lifesavers and those variations (Jolly Rogers?) will ultimately dissolve sooner.
