Garlic skinning idea-can't remember who was looking for it

Saw this tip in Cooks Illustrated, or some such. Put the garlic cloves in a quart jar and shake it well. Sounds like a good idea.

I have been reluctant to mention the way I do this as it seems too simple. But reluctance aside now

It just seems as though this is such an unlikable task for so many. I used to dislike it too before I started peeling in this manner, but I think I assume that everyone peels this way, too.

I use a very sharp small knife and cut through to trim one tip just to the point at which the knife comes up against the skin on the bottom side. Then I hold the knife on the skin and pull the clove away. Most of the skin comes off as well, sometimes all of it.

I then do the same with the other tip , turning the clove upside-down and the entire rest of the skin comes off. Takes about 3 seconds per clove.

Is this everyone's method?

I just hit it with the side of my knife, or

Williams Sonoma (and other stores, I'm sure) sells a rubber tube-like thingy that you roll the garlic in to get the skin off.

Yes, there were a lot of ideas. It was in response to someone

who just hated to peel garlic a few days/weeks ago.
