I'm focusing on the fact that the GBH was a gift....a donation to raise funds for childrens' charities.

I'm focusing on the fact that the people who set up the display were not the bakers who are still finding hardened icing ground into unmentionable places.

I'm trying not to focus on the amount of time I spent trying to capture the right emotions on the snowmen's faces.

Because....as you can see....you can't see them.

(yoga's not cutting it....)

PS: And HOW did they manage to shrink it? Wasn't it bigger? I thought it was bigger...it sure seemed bigger to me.

I snuck into the display before it was opened to take a photo. But didn't

feel I could show it until it officially opened today. I'm assuming it's lit. They had electricity running around the perimeter.

I can only hope some of the local folks who saw the photos and pay to go see it in person tell them that they can't see the snowmen. I don't feel I have the right to ask them to move it. Like I said above...it was a donation, it's not mine anymore.

What an honor to be placed on the top level! It looks beautiful! (Although I still can't believe

how close we are to the Holidays!)

I so much admire your determination, great spirit and courage for taking on this "task!"

All the best!

Barb

Thanks Barb....I think "better location" was what the displayers were going for. But it ends up

that you can't see any of the snowmen....not the shark, not the penguin, not the repenting sinners, not the decapitated or condemned man. And I so wanted the kids and adults to get the same kick out of them that I do.

I smiled every time I looked at the two-headed monster snowman while he lived in our kitchen. And I wanted the kids to see them the same way--right at eye-level...just about a foot away.

I'm honored and sad all at the same time.

Marilyn, if it were me, I'd tell them from my heart, just like you've said it here,

that you are saddened that everyone else can't share by receiving what you were giving for their eyes to behold. Surely the words from your heart will touch them to make some adjustment.

Well said Marsha. Marilyn, tell them how you feel. It deserves to be seen!

(((((Marilyn))))

pssst... when no one is looking, take that one on the left and switch it with yours!

Take heart in the fact that they THOUGHT they were giving it a real place of honor by putting it up there on the pedestal... then continue to chant, sip your wine, and chant some more smileys/smile.gif

Marilyn, do I understand that people cannot approach the GBH? Are they

to look at it from afar afar?

Are they trying to protect it or just being thoughtless?

That's too bad. It's really important to take scale into account with these displays.

What you need to do is get several friends to go see it, then have them call the people in charge and--politely!--say that they were disappointed that they couldn't see your GBH properly and could it please be moved closer to the viewers. That way the message gets through, but it's not from you. Might be worth a try.

The yellow cord is the limit, and that would be fine if it were on a table

in front of the viewer. I think they were going for "over-all effect" as opposed to being able to view the house details.
