Geez, I just love these two ideas from bakerella....Red Velvet Cake Balls...

I am astounded at the instant foods available. I don't know if they are available here

but I've never seen the mix for red velvet cake, or cream cheese frosting. (I probably don't get out much)

I think these look particularly fancy dressed in the white chocolate.

Ang..

The 1st time I saw Red Velvet cake mix here in the north was in a Wal-Mart super-center. I just had to buy it after watching Steel Magnolia's with the "Bleedin' Armadilla Groom's cake" If you have one near you, chances are they have it. I actually made it for a southern thing we were having at work. It was a hit! I didn't do the Bleedin' Armidillo though. Just a bunt style.

The thing is...it NEVER occurred to me that you could use cake mix...and not cook it.

They say you only use 1/10 of your brain. I think I need to add another zero to the denominator.

see...I missed that. I thought she was taking the dry cake mix, adding the icing, and rolling it...

into balls.

Obviously, I've never bought Red Velvet cake mix.

Even more obviously, back to that using on 1/10 of our brain, I should add TWO zeros to the denominator.

they are converting our local WM to a super this year. I'll check it out. could be regional though

Remember a request for Starbucks Snowballs aways back? Maybe they are made using this method

ANG!! That was me requesting the snowballs.... which Starbucks no longer carries smileys/frown.gif

When I saw this recipe for the red velvet cake balls, that was my same reaction... Snowballs!! I am going to try it and will let y'all know if I'm successful. Who ever thought of crumbling and mixing a baked cake with frosting?! Genius!

Yay! I knew it was on this forum. like minds. We don't get those up here either, but they sounded

so good and different. It must be how they get the brownie stuff to hold together.
