Genral question about culinary lavendar: when lavender is called for in a recipe how do you know

i'm pretty sure that they mean the leaves...

otherwise, they'd specify lavender leaves.

Well I have a recipe that specifically says dried lavendar leaves but all the others I have seen ...

just say "lavendar". So if purchased in the spice dept they are the dried blossoms? That's good to know. I only remember seeing the dried blossoms sold but that was for potpuri use. I have had a grilled shrimp appetizer where dried lavendar leaves were used in a citrus marinade. Comparable to use of rosemary but with a different taste (but good!)

I've never seen the dried leaves but I have lavendar in the garden. I'll dry some and

experiment. it sounds interesting smileys/smile.gif

Lemon Lavender Scones calls for dried lavender leaves....I'll re-post the recipe if anyone is ....

interested in this very excellent recipe. The first time I made them I didn't have quite enough lavender so I used part rose geranium leaves and now that's my favorite scone recipe. I grow both these in my garden.
