Good article on how to prep and save fresh greens. Also read the comments. Lots of good hints.

That is a lot of fuss for fresh greens. I put the greens in a zip lock bag and put them

in the crisper. Many keep a week or longer. We keep our fridge at 37 degrees and keep the crispier vents half open Yesterday, I took out a bunch of golden beets with beautiful greens. The greens had wilted a little. Since I had to clean them anyway, I put them in a bowl of water and VIOLA, greens perked up and dirt came off.

Not going to the store as often. And there are too many idiots not wearing masks sneezing all over

lettuce. I'd rather triple wash them as soon as I get home and wrap them up well.

Thanks, Marilyn

The Farmers Market here has tape put up 3 feet away from produce,. You wash your hands

when entering the market. stay six feet away from folks when possible, and point to the produce you want that is already in plastic bags.. It is working well.

I have always done this with greens, particularly herbs. I don't spin but they do lounge on towels

for a good stay. They are so expensive, and some are so hard to find that I rejoice when they are available. I do find that a too-cold spot in the fridge will kill them quickly however. I also have one basket in the fridge that is dedicated to herbs so they don't get crushed or have unhealthful disputes with each other.

I use paper towel to wrap them lightly but used to use the ziplocks with perforations all throughout, designed for herbs. No longer available.

I find that putting stem ends in a jar of water and keeping them outside, or in the fridge, works even better, but that is not always practical.

Just look at how I write now. I have watched so much Downton Abbey that I probably have an accent, too. Won't know until I have a real conversation again.
