Back from a week at the beach with most of our family there. Gorgeous week--hot hot. We did our usual "regulars"--chicken salad, pea salad, crab cakes and since Denver son was there the wonderful sheet pan Louisiana shrimp BBQ. Fortunately crab has come to some semblance of affordability.
Good friends of the kids from school also have a house there and Caroline always brings a caramel cake. It is a WONDER and much beloved all over the South== 14 layers. It is easily 10-12 inches high. Slices are cut thin thin thin and it is delicious. We began to really think about how that caramel icing would be "spread" between layers because they are SO thin. It must be almost liquid--but not. It is discernible icing.
poor picture but this is it.
