I don't stir in the milk at the end---I add it to the batter before the berries. not sure why they

have you stir it in at the end. just sounded odd to me. but then, I often change up recipes.

 
2 questions: Does it need a touch of lemon rind? If I were to bake it in loaf pans,

is there something lost in its appeal?

 
I like to add the lemon rind. I can't seem to make a cake batter w/o some kind of essence, either

vanilla or lemon or almond need to be added or the batter is just blah to me. loaf pans should be very nice. it's a plain-er cake, as it doesn't have a frosting or glaze. just a dusting of powdered sugar is nice.

 
I have this in the oven right now, thank you. Darn I forgot the vanilla...!
