While reading Reader's Digest, they asked for the best brownie, many many readers sent recipes. Winner was Katie Barker. Here is her recipe:

Gotta-Have-It-Brownie

Mix 1 cup soft butter

2 cups sugar

1/3 cup cocoa

Stir in 4 eggs

add 1 1/2 cups flour, 2 tsps vanilla, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Frosting Recipe: 1 2/3 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter,1/3 cup cocoa, 1/3/ cup canned evaporated milk. Set aside

Stir, pour into grease, 1 inch deep baking sheet

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until done

Cover with 1 lb mini marshmallows

Bake for 3 more minutes

Add frosting

I made these brownies today, I know I posted this recipe, they don't taste good

In fact, they were too rich, I got sick to my stomach after one bite, and have not eaten all day. It's late at night and I still feel nauseas.

Dianne, citing the "glass half full theory" you may have just come up with the next multi-million $$

diet plan.

Just think...you get to eat brownies in order to achieve a lack of appetite!

It's a win-win situation. You'll probably be on Oprah soon.

Hahaha, I would rather continue being a dollaraire than ever eat those brownies again

I continued to have an upset stomach into Sunday morning. I followed that recipe completely. What amazes me is that readers digest held a contest for people to submit their best brownie recipe and this one was the winner among thousands. I respect readers digest as I hold a continuous subscription for over 10 years, but I think they were asleep on this one. I wonder if I could still earn the millions on Oprah for warning people against those toxic brownie's. What do you think? hahahaha smileys/smile.gif

dianne, I was looking over that recipe again...

I can't figure out what might have made you sick. Maybe the eggs were bad? I know it was rich and had a LOT of sugar in it, but still there is nothing that should have caused such a violet reaction. Did you ever figure it out?

This is almost exactly the Mississippi Mud Cake from the '70's. It used marshmallow creme.

Only differences are the MMC uses 1/2 c. cocoa instead of 1/3 and 1/4 cup butter in the frosting instead of 1/2.
