Ed took me to Maison Blanche, a French restaurant on Longboat Key for my birthday last night. We started the night with an amuse bouche of a cold arugula soup with evoo and teeny tiny chive croutons. Appetisers were a wild mushroom ravoli with foie gras sauce for me and tomato tart with basil juice for Ed.

When we were finished the dessert menu was brought out so we could choose which one we wanted that was made at that time.

Ed had the halibut with green peas and carrot sauce. I had the duck leg confit (only bad choice...dry, over cooked and over salted) that was served with Sarladaise potatoes, thin sliced sauteed in butter and garlic with crisp snow peas...wonderful!!

We were then served the dessert amuse bouche: vanilla custard with passion fruit sauce, cotton candy house made marshmellows and a chocolate covered caramel.

My ordered dessert was Apple tart that was very fine layers with brown sugar and an intense apple sorbet. Ed had the Paris Brest that I ate most of (it was MY birthday dinner!!)

Coffee was served with dense chocolate truffles.

Three hours later we rolled out to the car.

Side note: When I checked my blood sugar a couple of hours later it was 104...maybe it does pay to get older!!??!

Happy Birthday Michael!! Wow, what a nice birthday dinner. I've

passed the restaurant on the Gulf many times and have been curious.

"- - - we rolled out to the car." LOL!
