Grilled Shrimp with Miso Butter - tried this last night and it was very tasty

This is just sad. I went to the store to buy shrimp for this dish and there was NO

fresh shrimp to be had. Every variation was marked "previously frozen."

I can see that if I was shopping for this in, say...Kansas or North Dakota, but I was shopping in a store 0.5 miles from the Florida Intracoastal where they do shrimping.

 
Made this the other night and it was scrumtious. May make it tonight

as an appetizer at our son's house. I used half the amount of butter for the same amount of miso. Used Chimayo chile powder and a bit of chili garlic paste. Used Argentinian red shrimp from TJ's.

 
Mine were frozen. I understand your pain, but I think that is true

many places. It is at our supermarkets at the beach. Of course, we can go to the fish market.
BUT (this is in SC), there are times of the year when the shrimp season is not "in" and the market is selling frozen, albeit local, shrimp. That happened in May--they thought the season might start in about 10 days--they measure the roe shrimp to see if they have laid enough eggs at that point that shrimping can start. Had not heard that measure before.
