just scored a 1936 1st trade edition of Joy of Cooking for $10??? And it looks like it has never been opened.

Fruitcakes in Candied Orange Cups?

Guess what's for dessert this Christmas Eve?

They will be flambeed on the serving tray with cognac-soaked sugar cubes pressed into the top and lit like candles.

As for cooking in orange skins, I did a Thanksgiving sweet potato dish one year (decades ago) that was baked in hollowed out orange peels. I think the recipe may have been from Gourmet.

These orange halves are candied before they are filled and baked. Entirely edible carmelized
