I'm not familiar with either of these shows since I don't have cable tv, but I'm going to one of them. Both are events at a nearby Festival of St. Gennaro this weekend - one on Saturday, the other on Sunday.

Gas too expensive, so I won't be going both days.

Which would you suggest? Thanks.

Guy's pretty funny and I've made a few of his concoctions and they were keepers.

Don't know about michelina's though - from what I googled, it's a local restaurant family in Rome NY.

Guy does have a degree in hospitality and does seem to know what he's doing besides being a "TV" personality.

One of them is today... I still have to decide. So you guys think Guy would be a good choice?

Not familiar with Michelina. Guy has a great ability to make it "cool" to work in the kithchen. He

clearly was schooled by RR, he talks non-stop. What a fun time you will have...I would suggest you can't go wrong with either one. Hope the weather holds out! Would love to know what you did and your thoughts! Enjoy and have fun!!

That boy has a wicked case of ADD! It was difficult to

follow what he was saying (maybe that shows my ADD)!

He did seem very down-to-earth, and engergetic - very energetic - while he was constantly walking almost barefoot across the stage (eeewww) but I was disappointed that he didn't talk about cooking hardly at all. He has a great love for life, though, no doubt about that!

I guess I did go to see him for the "celebrity factor", but I also hoped to learn something; I was about a half hour late, but all I heard him say about food was that he liked to fry bacon and use the grease for cooking. And "who out there liked chicken thighs?" (?) He just threw aprons out to the audience, answered questions about his personal life and how he got into the business, and talked about other foodie personalities.

Maybe he was having a bad day, or maybe it was me! I was a little disappointed (can you tell?). But I'm glad I went, or I'd be wondering what I missed. And oh, I won $35. Twice!

I find that typical of almost all celebrity chef appearances....

they really don't cook or offer real cooking tips. For instance, a friend just paid $60 to see Alton Brown. He used a whipped cream type canister and powdered cheese to make cheeze whiz. He used liquid nitrogen to make a Red Bull ice cream. And finally he did sous vide ribs like we all own a $2k sous vide machine - he told the audience everyone should own one. As she said, she was disappointed because he didn't do things you will try at home but she said it was fun and you were thereto see his personality and he had lot of that.

To really learn, there are top name chefs that do classes and that is about the only time I will pay because I do learn from them. My favorite is Nick Malgeri and second is probably Rick Rodgers - Rick has a GREAT sense of humor.

On that note, last weekend at the finals for the world pastry team championship, I was walking along and this lady was walking towards me. I kept thinking I know her I know her. Who is she and where do I know her from. I almost stopped her to talk because we made eye contact and it hit me JUST in time. IDIOT - you don't really KNOW her, that is Collette Peters you idiot!

Thank you for the suggestion though. I didn't mean that to sound like I didn't appreciate

them.

I've seen Paula Deen (very good!! - no, GREAT!), Marianne Esposito (also pretty good), Lydia Bastianovich (good, but not very entertaining), and Rocco Dispirito (very good) there. Every summer, they (Turning Stone) have a celebrity chef series.

I think my favorite Julia child guest was Nick Malgieri. I love his website too.

His recipes all seem so do-able---even the fancy ones. I would love to see him in person.

I have a feeling we'll have some celebrity chefs up here soon to film segments on Sarah Palin's moose stew. Every other media type in the world is up here now, why not celebrity chefs?
