Had a simple, delicious. no fuss early dinner that I thought I'd share with my foodie friends.

Had some old friends over today. They were on their way to Canada to visit relatives and stopped for a few hours. They ended up staying overnight. We sat on the deck drinking Richard's Pineapple Margahooties and munching on a mixture of nuts that I had brined and stuck in the smoker for 2 hours. Dinner was slow smoked ribs, my nephew's recipe for spicy baked beans, and a salad of romaine and cucs with a sour cream, wine vinegar and fresh dill dressing. Finished with first of the season strawberries with shortcake and cream.

Everything was so good and I basically sat on the deck until the ribs were ready.

As my dad used to say... "I wonder what the poor people did today".

This kind of day makes you feel rich. Good food and good friends.

Cyn, no wonder they decided to stay! What a wonderful evening.

Slow and simple is always the best.

How special!! I love that you were able to enjoy your friends,& not have to be alone in the kitchen
