It was the highlight of our vacation! We had such fun meeting up. I had earlier emailed to Joanie pics of us, so that she knew we were "real." It was so funny, because Joanie arrived and noticed George immediately and they both gave hugs. It set the tone for a fun day!

My dh (and M&D, and MIL / FIL) were somewhat confused about our eat.at community and friendships. Certainly, not after our meet up! We had such fun! (parents were so impressed with how technology can create / sustain meaningful friendships)

I was so impressed by the work Joanie is doing with her newspaper, including a recipe section!

You know the feeling of when you see an old friend that you have not seen in a while, and have the ability to just pick up where you left off??? That was what is what like with Joanie. Such fun and laughs.

Thanks so much to all for the tips on the chocolate to bring. They were a hit. Some were available to her, but others not. It worked out well! Mar, yours got huge smiles and extra accolades. (Mar mailed me some of her chips to bring with me)

She has trouble logging in. So I will mention that she gives big hugs to all!

It was sad to say goodbye and thank you to her, but I am confident that if her travels are in this direction, she will be here!!

What fun to be able to get together!

I'd love to meet Joanie. It's amazing to me that people don't understand our community. Years ago, one of my friends was nervous about teaching a college course on-line, because she felt that she would never get to know the students. I tried to reassure her, citing then-Gail's as evidence. She didn't believe me, but once the course was over, she told me that she actually felt she knew the kids better than in her regular classes. It seems it's hard to understand until you have experienced it. And there are not many places where you can experience it and it's all positive, like here. This is a community to treasure.
