We were going to have lunch at the 'famous' Loveless Cafe but when I called about an hour ahead to do the call ahead seating I was told that they wait was at two and a half hours and once it reaches two hours they do away with the call ahead. So a quick scramble and we got reservations at Husk Nashville - Chef Sean Brock's restaurant. The food was wonderful and the conversation even better. As we left I noticed this lady coming in that was well lets just say not your typical Nashvillian and I noticed taxis. This weekend is the first Music City Eats festival which is supposed to be like the Aspen Food & Wine or others like that. Dana Cowin is here for it as are a ton of celebrity chefs. I would kill to go but the cheap tickets that didn't include the celebrity meal were like $250. With the dinner - $700!!! So there are a lot of foodies in town. Well, a chef friend just posted pictures of her and some of the celebrity chefs (she's volunteering at it - I was too late to get in on that) and low and behold there is the lady I had noticed. None other than Nancy Silverton.
After our lunch I gave Cindy the nickle tour of the Downtown area and we drove over to East Nashville (one of the really hot happening places especially for restaurants and food) and took her to Porter Road Butchers which has been written up in all sorts of national publications and rated one of the best butchers in the US. I grabbed a few things and she got some of the pork pate with marjoram and some artisinal cheese from The Bloomy Rind which is co-located in their shop.
It really is fun when we finally get to meet each other in person and share a meal. Thanks again for lunch and for spending a little time with me here in Nashville.
