Happy 4th of July to our American friends.

It is except for all the nuts now shooting off firecrackers, rockets, and fireworks...

that should be left to the municipalities who are using professionals.

First off, it is illegal in this state. But they do it anyway with no impunity. Call the police and they laugh at you.

Last night, the neighbors across the greenbelt were shooting off exploding fireworks over our house ( as they do every year ). We're talking Fountains, Ground Spinners, Sparklers, Peonies, and Chrysanthemums. And tonight will be the full scale bararge which will continue for the next 2 weeks until they run out.

Puppies are quaking and we are moving to the basement bedroom for the duration.

If the police are going to look the other way on the 4th, they could at least apply the law the rest of the weeks preceding and afterwards.

I always worry about my house burning down with the full scale assault of "those" neighbors and the hot debris from their fireworks raining down on our roofs.

I'm outside with the water hose hosing it down and hoping it didn't cause any damage...

 
It is now dark. Now the municipal fireworks are going off to cover the backyard pirates.

Dogs are in the basement as I maintain vigil on my roof. Huge explosion next door. Hopefully they've blown themselves up.

 
The idiots firing in the air do not even consider the fact that those DO come down

somewhere and can do real damage. We had an article in our paper a number of years ago about just that.
