Happy Hanukkah!

Thanks. Family candle lighting tomorrow night with all kinds of latkes - leek patties, potato, ...

zucchini, etc.

Happy Hanukkah to everyone! I am so honored to help in the annual

frying of latkes at my girlfriend's Hanukkah party. This year we fried up 16 pounds of potatoes into latkes and they were all eaten. She made 4 different kinds of briskets and lots of other goodies. We end the meal with "The Story of Hanukkah" set in a large child's edition picture book. The young ones each read a page, show the picture then pass it to the next person to read the next page. At the end the very youngest ones able light a couple of different menorahs then we receite a prayer in both Hebrew and English. So much fun. I look forward to it every year. Each year the non-Jewish parents thank my friend for including their kids in the cermoney so that they can learn about other cultures. It is just a wonderful evening for all!! Isn't that the way it should be??? I hope all of you have such a wonderful opportunity too!!

Hi Deb! Three recipes were made with a piece of the brisket...

one cranberry one, one sweet + sour one and one made with Coke. The 4th was a whole brisket roasted on a bed of onions and was definitely the winner. But they were all delicious. I am sure she would give me any of the receipes if you are interested. She used 3 crockpots and the whole one was done in the oven.

She also take a poll (being a CPA she's a numbers kind of gal!) to see which folks prefer, applesauce or sour cream on their latkes---it's always a tie!!

Sounds delish! I always cook my brisket on a bed of onions too

and the sauce I use is a combo of Heinz chili sauce, beer and beef broth. I think nearly every Jewish household has a version of this in their repetoire - LOL:)

OMG Ang, that was so funny! Marg, I will never look at a brisket w/o smiling and thinking of your

post above. And agree, what a lovely invite Barbara
