Went to friends last night, and they served the most amazing mustard sauce, so I begged for the recipe. This makes a lot (they halve the recipe), but it's really wonderful.

Ron's Aunt Helen's mustard sauce

4 eggs

2 cups sugar

4 tbsp flour

3/4 cup dry mustard

3/4 cup cider vinegar

dash salt

Beat eggs. Add sugar gradually. Sift together flour and mustard. Add to egg mixture, blending well. Add vinegar and salt. Cook in double boiler until thick. Remove from heat, and stir in 1 tbsp butter.

Remember that it gets thicker as it cools. Keep in the fridge, and it lasts for a very long time.

Enjoy!

Great recipe ~ Use as a dip or as you would mustard? And to half the recipe? I will make this smileys/smile.gif

This sounds wonderful. I made some mustard recently

and love the spiciness that the dry mustard gives it. Thanks for posting!

My dad's standard way of making mustard was

a spoonful of dry mustard, a spoonful of sugar, and enough vinegar to bring it to the right consistency. You have to let it stand for a while, but it's really good - or at least, that's what I grew up on and that's why I think it's really good.
