Coming in a day late. Fabulous meet-up with Angie & Bill at their friend's home
Kristen and Dennis. Thank you Angie (and K & D) for inviting us to share this special day with you and all their family and friends.
After Angie confirmed there were no Craig's list murderers there and I confirmed I was actually a SHE and not a HE posing all these year and many many hugs, I started out with Angie's "bacon wrapped, pecan topped, goat-cheese stuffed dates" which are broiled mouthfuls of happiness. Angie warmed me about the goat cheese and I pre-apologized, but it was a great appetizer. Apparently I need to have my minor amount of goat cheese "bacon wrapped, pecan topped and stuffed in dates." Angie used a German prosciutto which has a name any Scrabbler would love: Schinken Speck.
The turkey was wonderfully moist, prepped by Angie & Bill and then smoked to perfection in 4.5 hours, initiating Dennis' brand-new smoker. I can't imagine a better baptism. Angie made her family's traditional sweet/sour red cabbage (wonderful!) and sweet potato rolls, which I forced myself to skip because...
...there was so many side dishes (pot-lucked by everyone) that it barely fit on the "almost long enough to be a bowling lane" countertop.
A lovely blessing was said by Kristen's brother and then we just dove in. Hours later we were still munching.
What a great day. Thank you again, Angie and Bill and Kristen and Dennis. I hope everyone's day was as sweet.
(Before you ask, no photos were taken. I asked my double chin and it said no.)
