Harvey Wallbanger cake, an oldie, but still an oldie.

While trying to figure out my lemon bread problem (cloyingness), folks mentioned a dessert popular during the 70's: Harvey Wallbanger Cake. In my (apparently low) culinary estimation, it ranked right up there with "Better than Sex Cake" because both used packaged cake and pudding mixes to produce a "fancy" dessert, crucial when I didn't know my way around a whisk.

I checked my old (like, really old) handwritten recipes and yes, there it was. I remember baking this in a bundt pan and then adding an unopened bottle of Galliano in the center hole when presenting the cake as a gift.

I'm fairly sure I didn't actually like the Harvey Wallbanger drink, but I do remember I loved to give this cake/bottle/fancy plate as a gift.

I never made that one but the rum cake was and is DEEElicious. I actually have had the rum out for several weeks now meaning to make one.

I can barely recall seeing an unopened bottle of Galiano in my cabinet. It is the best-used of cocktail ingredients chez-moi.

I haven't used a cake mix in decades, but I do fondly remember the Tunnel of Fudge Cake!

It used a chocolate cake mix and a chocolate pudding mix and it was baked in a bundt pan. I loved it!
