Has anybody tried a Caipirinha? My new favorite drink!

Had two at a friend's last night and loved it.

Cachaca is a spirit native to Brazil and is distilled from fresh sugarcane juice. It's considered a member of the rum family but has a lighter flavor.

Mud together 1/2 a lime and 2 tsp. superfine sugar, add 1-2 oz Cachaca, top w/ crushed ice and stir.

It's smoother than a margarita (or cosmo for that matter) but gives you a nice warm feeling without knocking you over.

Can't wait for summer!

FYI, our hosts last night said they've tried several brands of Cachaca and the smoothest in their opinion is Pirassununga Cachaca 51.

Ohh, my head still hurts from a party several years ago..

Try adding a few strawberries when you pound the mint, my Brazilian friends do this for variety, and they are so good. Too good... smileys/smile.gif

Oh dear, I'm just getting over the lemon drops. No more Meyers left in the stores so I've moved on

to pomegrate.

I'm forwarding this one to my bartender.
