Has anyone had 'Ohana's peanut sauce at Disney's Polynesian Resort?

I have an old newspaper copy of the recipe, but it's a large amount and I can't be bothered breaking it down to make a smaller batch if it's just "okay."

This recipe starts with 14 oz of peanut butter and 16 oz of soy sauce and there is no universe in which I need that much peanut sauce.

Thanks, Karen. I can break this one down to 1/4 easily. I was more

concerned about getting a validation for the taste to see if it was worth the ingredients.

It looks yummy but there's no way that makes a quart!

Ohana Peanut Sauce

Ingredients

1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup sugar
3 cloves garlic
1 finger ginger
1/4 cup spanish onion, diced
1 tablespoon chopped peanuts

Method of Preparation

1. Peel garlic and ginger
2. Add all ingredients together in a blender and pulse until smooth

Yield: 1 quart or 6 to 8 servings

Here is the old newspaper recipe for 'Ohana Peanut Sauce 2 quarts

1 ounce garlic in oil
1 tsp Thai curry paste
16 oz soy sauce
1 1/4 pounds sugar (20 oz)
14 ounces peanut butter
1 ounce fresh ginger, finely chopped
salt/pepper to taste
chopped green onions and peanuts for garnish

1. In medium saucepan, lightly saute garlic in a small amount of oil. Stir in curry paste. Add soy sauce and bring to simmer.
2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and continue to stir. Add salt & pepper.
3. Remove from heat and chill.
4. Serve in bowls for dipping garnished with chopped green onions and peanuts.

To me this looks like it was a massive quantity recipe that someone later....

Broke down but did it incorrectly. That is a LOT of sugar, for instance. This type of sauce usually has a little sugar but certainly not even CLOSE to that amount. Just my opinion.

Since so many seem to like it, maybe that amount of sugar is the reason for

something different.
The smaller recipe is "close" (but not exactly) 1/4 of the original recipe posted.
