Has anyone heard anything else about pistachios? I see they haven't been pulled from the shelves >>

Louisa, I work for Publix and in the last week or so I have had several

items come through my line that the computer pops up saying the item is not for sale. One was for Jello Pistachio (whatever it was) and another was a Trail Mix blend and something else but I can't remember what it was at the moment. I guess as they isolate the problem item they put it into the system so that they can't be sold. I let my manager know so that the items are pulled form the shelf. What a shame that this is all happening. Hopefully the "food police" get put back on the job!

That is interesting about the computers picking up the items. I got inspired to make>>>

some maamoul cookies and they have pistachios filling or chopped dates. I guess I will have to check those labels carefully too. We don't have a Publix around here in Northern California.

Yes, I know Publix is not there but I would think that most major food

stores would be doing the same thing. Hopefully your store is. Our government has got to get back to making sure our food sources are safe.

I saw our TJ's did have pistachios and I looked at the package & saw where...

the distributor was but at the time I did not have the list. I'll have to print it out and go back. Apparently from the gov website they are still investigating this issue. It may not be getting the press that peanuts got because use of peanut butter products is more wide spread.

I bought Nichols Farms pistachios at winco today. There was a letter taped to the bins saying they

didn't get their nuts from Setton Farms. I also looked on the gov site & they were not on the recall list. Another site (not FDA guaranteed)gave a list of producers/distributers that were okay and they were on that list. So I feel safe to use these.
Now I need to get the wooden cookie mold for Ma'amoul Cookies. My local Mideastern store was supposed to order for me but they haven't gotten them yet....
