Has anyone made a Dirt Cake that doesn't use inst. pudding & cool whip?

I want to make one for my son's bday, but I'd rather not use those ingredients. I like something a little more 'from scratch' smileys/smile.gif

You could make your own homemade pudding, let it cool and fold in some whipped cream

Then use that mixture and proceed with the recipe...mixing with butter, cream cheese, sugar, etc.

I make a recipe that uses pudding and cool whip and that's what I do... much prefer homemade pudding and fresh whipped cream!
