Has anyone made ice cream from Jeni Bauer (uses corn starch & cream cheese)?

I have and I've had good results-- I made this pistachio recipe and loved it

CI had poo-poo'ed the cornstarch in their recipe quest for the perfect ice cream,. but I didn't like the results from the CI recipe!

I think the cornstarch is a nice "Smoother" less icy crystals later on. Go for it!

Mark Bittman has a corstarch recipe and video. Very easy and good.

Thanks Mo...the pistachio is the one I zero'd in on. I have this ridiculously expensive

bag of imported Turkish pistachios that are SCREAMING for something interesting.

 
Follow-on Question: Who has the KA mixer "ice cream" attachment and what

do you think of it?

I have a Donvier and absolutely hate it. It appears the mechanics aren't that much different (freezer coolant container that must be pre-frozen), so I'm a little concerned whether it's worth it. The only difference is the KA cranks the churn versus moi.

But I've got a $75 Amazon ift certificate burning a hole in my kitchen psyche.

 
Anyone? I am watching this post. I have a similar gift certificate for WS; was thinking of an

ice cream maker. Talked myself out of the pop maker and did not know that KA had an ice cream attachment.

 
Not me. A friend of mine gifted me his maker. It has a compressor in it, so I can

churn batch after batch of ice cream. If that thing ever wears out, I'm going to have to spend some serious $$$ to replace it!
