glaze? My hubby thought it would be neat to have a dessert platter with both the "traditional" oreo truffles and white oreo truffles. I have very little experience with white chocolate -- does it melt the same way as semi-sweet? Any other tricks.

The traditional oreo truffle recipe is under T&T candy.

OREO TRUFFLES

Grind 20 oz of oreo cookies in food processor Add 1 8-oz cream cheese. Blend together. Roll into small balls (makes over 75) and then dip in melted chocolate. For dipping you can use either couveture chocolates or use a 12-oz bag of semi-sweet chips with 1 tsp or so of oil added to thin it out. Do a Kitchen Seek on the words oreo cookie truffle to get lots of responses and how different people coated them.

note: it helps to put uncoated balls in freezer for a bit before dipping.

Mia, I've used mint oreos coated with mint chips and peanut butter oreos with PB chips

but never the white ones.

For baking I use Lindt white chocolate because it melts so beautifully, but I'm not sure how easy it is to temper.

For ease, confectionary white wafers would work as its harden quickly, although the taste wouldn't be quite as good.

I have used Ghiradelli white chocolate chips for melting and decorating bar cookies or dipping, but

they do not melt well in the microwave. They always sieze up on me if the power is a bit too high and I don't check them every few seconds. I prefer to melt them the old fashioned way over hot water. The confectionary white chocolate bark melts well for me in the microwave.
