Has anyone made waffles with dough instead of batter?

I saw this lady, Mary Fishbach, owner of Waffle Window, make her waffles using dough. Took her over a year to develop the recipe after her sons told her about it while visiting Amsterdam.

I've seen recipes many times and I've always wanted to try one but

I'm not a morning person and it always seems like more than I want to do. Some day I will. Bobby Flay has many recipes for them. Let us know if you make any.

If you like crispy, these are excellent and most prep is night before

Have you seen the "Will it Waffle" cookbook?

Waffled mac&cheese is one of the standouts. This guy waffles everything from appetizers, meats, sides, etc.

I still use my old waffle iron that was a wedding gift (50 yrs last Feb.)

It makes the old-fashioned thinner waffles - not the Belgian waffles. These are very light and crispy - delicious with my home-made strawberry jam over fresh strawberries, and of course, a sprinkling of confectioners' sugar.

Me too! 49 years next month and works like a charm. Same toaster

too although it's starting to get a little dicey. One part of the toast doesn't get quit toasted as much.

The two kinds are so different and each delicious but I have come to prefer

the Belgian style.
One caveat about waffles in general, they DO require more fat than say, pancakes.

We have a Belgian restaurant that are doing these...

A Belgian chef features his waffles on the menu at Taste of Belgium and he makes the waffles using dough. Nephew was a chef there and they stuff the waffle makers full of wads of the dough. Lovely chicken and waffles dish on the menu.

orchid--our current toaster belonged to my husband's folks--it was a wedding gift to them in 1940.It

still works perfectly. The only reason we have ever had to purchase a second toaster is because the 1940 version doesn't have slots wide enough to accommodate Wolferman's English muffins or bagels. In our 40 years of married life we've probably gone through 4 modern toasters used solely for muffins & bagels, but the old one originally belonging to Paul's parents continues to toast just fine. We do have to be careful because insulation in those old ones wasn't the best so the outside of it gets rather warm, but it continues to toast bread slices to perfection. I figure it is 77 years 'young'!
