Has anyone purchased from "The Perfect Puree of Napa Valley"

I'm looking for a good mango paste and this site has several very nice-sounding fruit items. I was even wondering if some of them could be used to make curd? (edited: just noticed they have recipes at the link and you can make curd from their products. Blood-orange curd, anyone?

I found them first on amazon.com, but amazon charges $40 shipping (or $30 if you buy several) when you order through them.

I might be able to find what I'm looking for at an Indian grocer, but that would imply that I can find an Indian grocery store. For some reason I have a real hankering for mango buttercream and I'm not sure why.

I also linked one of their recipes: Red berry onion confit over gorgonzola cheesecake. Holey Moley.

Re: Has anyone purchased from "The Perfect Puree of Napa Valley"

I have Marilyn!! I bought the minimum 4 jars around Christmas time and made pate de fruits with them. I made some strawberry sorbet also, but not curd..I have some passion fruit leftover. I could try it out for you if you want today. I think I have some white peach also.
I ordered directly from the company (can't remember why, think it was the same shipping as Amazon's quote) and bought the smaller 15oz purees.
They thaw and refreeze really well.
Great for cocktails...
Was thinking of getting some of the concentrates also.
Let me know if I can help you.

Good info, sue. I wanted to use it in mousse and buttercream and I didn't know if

"mango paste" was equivalent to "mango puree" for this purpose.

A few more questions for you:

Does it have a clean, clear fruity flavor--or a sugar-sweet flavor?

Is there a preservative taste? I don't care if it has preservatives...I just mind when you can taste them over the product.

Thanks!

Marilyn - got my 8 week puppy biting me so I'll do some home research and post back, hopefully when

she goes down for her nap soon!

"Is it time to put the puppy to bed?" has been hollered A LOT at our house

the last 5 months! LOL, amazing how much attention they require, isn't it?

OK Marilyn - found some Blood Orange Puree in the freezer and made the curd.

I used RLB curd recipe from The Cake Bible - she had a blood orange substitution. I used 2 Tablespoons of the puree and it was very tasty.
I then made RLB Mousseline Buttercream using the curd for her Fruit Mousseline. Extremely delicious.
I used Grand Marnier as the liqueur and I have to say I'm pleasently buzzed - not sure if it's from all the sugar or the alcohol. But, it and I, are feeling grand.
I think you'll be happy with the purchase. Mine had 2 year expiration dates on them - came in a styrophone box. First class operation.
I took some photos of the curd and buttercream.
I'll try and figure out how to post.

my dog never chewed up anything else once she started on those, except socks. such a sock thief!

they last a long time too. I was worried about the content, but the Vet said they were fine and they ingest such a small amount it's not a problem and doesn't fill up their tummy like rawhide or pig ears, which can upset a puppy's tummy. my 2 year old labradoodle still loves her nylabones(I guess it's actually one word), but I have noticed she doesn't chew on it nearly as much as the puppy year. they make softer ones for puppies and hard ones for older dogs. hmmmm, I should go work for them.

Have I said lately how much I love this site and you guys? Thanks SUE!

I'll have to test the cake first to make sure it is good enough for the mousse and buttercream.

By the way, if you push anything out to Photobucket, make sure you select the bigger size before uploading (it's defaulting to "tiny")

New photos are ending up on the 3rd page of photos.
I think the first batch must be locked in position.

also, slathering hot sauce on wooden cabinet corners and chair legs is a good deterent ;o)

That does not always work...

I had a cat who *loved* chicken livers. So much so that she'd sometimes jump on the counter and bat the livers out of the frying pan while they were cooking!!!

One day, I doused some in Tabasco. Thought it would deter her. Not So! She LOVED the tabasco soaked livers. Ate three of the things. I was amazed.

And I think I was very mean, but I couldn't help bursing out with laughter in the middle of the night when I heard long loud meows of pain coming out of the room where the litter box was...
