Has anyone seen this little tool? An online potluck sign-up...

I played around with it and it looks pretty cool. You create a master sign-uplist leaving the who blank, send a link to your folks attending who fill in the details on the item you requested. You can also leave them notes and be notified when someone adds items.

This way everyone has a copy of the most current list. It could be prettier but heck it's still in beta, but a great idea!

WOW this is GREAT - we had a Thanksgiving potluck yesterday

and it was like pulling teeth to get people to say what they were bringing. In the end we had a ton of store bought pies.

We are doing the holiday meal at Ronald McDonald house so I am going to use this for sure to help get that menu going the right direction. I was so worried last year when we did it that besides what I cooked, I ran out on my way there and spent over a $100 on picking up extras just to make sure I had a well balanced variety of foods and enough to feed all 50 people.

You know, that really irks me too. LOL

I am in several organizations that have potlucks now and then. What do people bring? Jars of salsa, tortilla chips, and grocery store packaged desserts (triple=ick), the really bold and daring bring that wickedly awful "deli potato salad" which I can't even smell without wanting to hurl.

So whatever homemade dish I bring in is circled and devoured like vultures swooping in on road kill and it's cleaned out in 3 minutes after it hits the table.

And "bake sales"! There is a company in the lobby of my building whose employees do an annual "bake sale" to raise funds for some such. What do they offer? Store bought cookies, store bought cupcakes, store bought doughnuts, etc. Most usually the pre-packaged variety. People flock to this "bake-sale" and act as if they're standing in their grandmother's kitchen ooohin and awwwwwing over the "Homemade" goodies.

Remember when bake sales were the best of the homemade of your community and people stood waiting for Mrs. B to bring in her chocolate cake, and Mrs. C to bring in her apple pie???

Not knowing what trait it is we all share, I wasn't sure what was irking you LOL.

Ph - did you have to bring up the bake sales? We do them for all the charities that we support and it's all bought stuff - maybe just maybe one homemade thing every now and then.

What do these people eat at home? Surely they don't all eat out all the time.

The trait I see is all three of you are very concerned that your guests are well fed. Even if

it means you end up making/buying/preparing 3 times what other guests do.

Big hearts...all of you. Oh wait, I guess that's another trait you all share.

See...shared DNA. Maybe ya'll were separated at birth.

Pie auctions are popular here just before Thanksgiving and same thing---so many Costco pies.

You can't help but tell from the humongous size of them.
