Has anyone tried baking with Ghiradelli's "Barista Dark Chocolate Mini Chips"?

As far as I can tell, it's designed to melt for mochas or hot chocolate.

I tried to call them, but got a recorded message about getting a sample, which I didn't follow up on.

Found a link with 10 pounds for $50 ($5 a pound...only slightly more expensive than Nestle's chips) but don't want 10 pounds if it doesn't work for baking.

Actually we have an outlet store in my town (I've never been in) and I could see if they have small

smaller amounts & send to you.

The few I checked use other products, not the Barista chips. I'll check the store for more info if

you want. I was planning to go over to the outlet stores today anyway.(see post below this one)

The neighborhood kids began adding M&Ms as well as chopped snicker bars, etc

to their hot cocoa. Not at all Barista quality, but a fun idea!

The gal at the outlet said she hadn't heard of Barista Dark. However she said that being an outlet

they were on the bottom of the list to get new product. I'll check back from time to time if you are still interested and not in a hurry. I did get a free sample of dark intense mint chocolate which I gladly ate in your honor!

OOOOohhh.. WAIT!!! You mean someone finally made GOOD tasting mini chips?!

Let us know if they can be used for baking... my favorite scone recipe uses the minis and I sure could use some good-tasting ones!
