Has anyone tried Pain d'Espices? This one from Food&Wine looked nice.

Yes. I've made it with my own spices and with the prepared version from France. I prefer mixing

them fresh, like Chinese 5 Spice. But the cake does not inspire me. This is not the version I've made. This one with so much honey in it reminds me of Eastern European honey cake. I just think there are more cakes out there to get excited about.

Very well done website, it is clean and fresh. I visited some of her recipes

and they look and sound lovely. I love finding new blogs to visit. This one is a keeper.
Does anyone visit StoneGable? If you go to the link, scroll down to the picture of the blogger. I swear this lady is the former Sandra Dee who played Gidget in those "moon doggie" films. I'm sure it is not her, but there sure is a resemblance.

what a lovely lovely rabbit hole I just fell into! stunning. and no also to that low table

Notice how all the furniture is for short people? Those old French farmhouse bits have such

character that it's a joy to run my fingers over them, wonder at all the grooves and wear marks and contemplate what the little people were creating as they stood at them centuries ago. They had to be VERY very short.

Perhaps this is just 'pour le cinema' in this photo as I'm sure her back would be complaining after 10 minutes.

my word that woman is too attractive, her entire family looks like an add for Abercrombie or

something. That said the bread sound amazing. and no eggs! printed to try soon.

I've baked Julia's recipe and I've tried versions from France....don't kick me off the site ..

and don't tell my in-laws, but I prefer fruitcake. I find the Pain d'epices way too sweet! Give me fruits, nuts and booze any day.
