Has this happened to you?

I have collected a number of recipes over the years that I hope to get to one day. I liked the look and reviews of a particular cake that I wanted to make from 2008. It came from a blog called Pittsburgh Needs Eaten. Anyway I went ahead with the recipe and there was a small item that the recipe wasn't clear about so I figured I would go and did up the recipe on the internet to see if there was a clarification. Well the recipe had changed quite a bit, but the basics was still there. Thank goodness I didn't have to run out to the grocery store, was able to adjust the recipe and looks great - just like in the picture.

oh, Pittsburgh...my home town! I found that ethnic recipes can have the same name

yet vary widely. Last Christmas, I wanted to make nut horns for a friend. I found recipe variations of the same cookie on Polish, Czech, Slovinian, Russian and Ukranian sites.

SAME COOKIE! DIFFERENT RECIPES! I had no clue which one to use, so I ended up with the one that mentioned her grandmother the most.

Maybe that's what happened with your recipe? Another reason might be what I'm running into: My own recipes are changing from ones I've posted online because I'm rewriting & retesting them and finding out either I left out steps or my tastes have changed since the original recipe. Either way, there will end up being two different recipes for the same thing.

My parents, Hungarian, also made horns. My favourite were and still are, the ones made with walnuts

My mom liked the poppy seed horns.
The recipe when I copied it and posted it in my recipe program contained the link. When I open the link everything was the same except the recipe was tweaked. We are going to have a party this evening and see how much we like it. Perhaps it was changed because the original left a little room for improvement.

Cyn:thanks for thinking about me.... my wife called Kitchen Aid and was told not to can

on this stove unless the pot is within the circle on the stove top.
Also the weight of the pot and the ingredients can have a detrimental affect on the stove top. He has seen them crack before.
Thanks for asking.

Good point about potential cracking. I canned often on my smoothtop without any

problems. Whenever I used it for whatever cooking, I was always very conscious of the ring size versus the vessel size but not the weight.
