Have any of you taken a cheese-making class?

I'm considering this one through my local farmer's market. Does it end up being too expensive to bother with?

For $40, that's a deal. I have taken a class in cheesemaking and found it very interesting. It

deepened my appreciation of cheese, for sure. I haven't made much at home, but it's something I'm working toward.

Traca is right, that's a bargin.

I took my first cheese-making class last March and have been making ricotta/marscapone/cottage cheese since then. This March I an taking one on mozzarella. I hope to try make fromage blanc after I conquer mozzerella. I think cheddar is quite a bit more complicated.

thanks for the recommendation

She was supposed to teach the class I went to last year but was sick and they got a (very competent) replacement. I do use her recipe which was handed out in the class when I make fresh cheese.

Have not taken a class but have made plenty of cheese- that class looks great

Making cheese is pretty easy and great fun- the only problem I ever ran across was getting fresh milk right out of the cow. Starting with store-bought milk, homogenized, pasteurized, everything else-ized doesn't work so well.

Have a ball- it is so much fun to make cheese!
