They're only in NY and CT, but, wow! What a store!

The biggest dairy department I have ever seen, and their house brand is excellent - must try the wine dept next time...

Has anybody every been to one?

Sandra, I was on the phone w/ my girlfriend today discussing Christmas, and she mentioned

that she ALWAYS used to go to Stew Leonards for their fish for Christmas Eve dinner. It has been an adjustment for her since she moved since she can no longer go for her 7 fishes. She was describing how fun / interactive the store is. She said there is nothing like it around here. Mind you, we have a TJs, Wegmans, Kings, Shop Rite, etc....(And she has been here for over 5 years, but she proceeded to bring up Stew Leonards)

Sounds like it must be a fun place.

It's in Yonkers,,,

barb, it's excellent! Their fish is indeed great, and as a matter of fact, last night we went to our frien'd house for 7 fishes and all the fish and shellfish came from there!

They also have good meats and poultry, we got our turkey there, fresh and free range, and their own brand dairy stuff is so fresh and good, the cream cheese is better than Philly, and I love Philly!

We also got some of their prepared foods, inlcuding a pint each of pasta & fagioli and clam chowder for $6, together!! Plus they were very good.

And we did go to the wine department this time, so much choice and great prices -

So happy to have found it...

That is the one that my friend was talking about. She was actually considering having her dh

drive from here (nj) to Yonkers for the christmas eve dinner. When her dh said that she was out of her mind,,, : ) She was trying to divert the family coming in from NY to see if they could "swing by" and pick the stuff up.

Sounds wonderful, and definitely on my list....

That's great!

I would also think it's worth the drive!

For us it's a bout 20 mins form the city, but I would drive hours to get here if need-be!

It's like a cross between Whole Foods and Disneyland, with great prices and good prepared food...

I mean, $8 for 4 lbs of butter?!?! And Kerry Gold Irish butter for $3, incredible!
