Heather's Fairy Tale Bakery finally open

I was encouraged by a couple of regulars who remembered me to post here in addition to A Place at the Table, so here it goes...for those who remember the Wandering Baker; well, I've mostly finished my construction project after 3 years and opened the doors on April 10th, my 20th wedding anniversary. The first week was nuts, only 12 hours of sleep the whole week. I'm open 5 days a week, 7 hours a day and can't keep up. I have 12 employees and as of yet not managed to keep even 2 out of 4 of the cases full. I'm averaging about 5 hours of sleep a night now which is marvelous. For anyone who loves to bake and thinks about opening their own bakery...don't!!!!! Find someone who will hire you and allow you to bake! On the other hand, what I wanted to create was a place for people to come and be pampered and be able to sit and chat awhile while eating delicious baked goods and that has been accomplished. It is truly a unique building, with an incredible team to help me including employees, friends and family. I don't have a web site yet, but if there's a way to post pictures, let me know and I'll put some up. In the meantime, I just finished payroll and it's time to hit the sack and dream about what I hope to get accomplished tomorrow. Thanks for still caring about this crazy person who is looking forward intensely to her 50th birthday surprise party at the end of the month!

Can someone jog my memory...isn't this bakery somewhere in Eastern WA? Where, exactly?

I'm in the Seattle area and will be heading East of the mountains later this summer....just might have to wander over to the bakery. smileys/smile.gif

I'm so happy for you, I've thought of you often and wondered how it was coming along, thanks so much

for an update and would love pics.

I think it's so awesome when someone

so tirelessly moves toward their goals and dreams and achieves them. Congratulations, Heather!!

And happy 50th birthday to you. Enjoy that surprise party.)

I so enjoy your stories, keep em comin! Congratulations on what sounds like a lovely place, wish we

could all come and enjoy your baked goods and pampering smileys/smile.gif

We should have an honorary FK table. wouldn't it be grand for us all to gather around

a table and nosh and gab the morning away. Hey, that's kinda what we do every morning, isn't it?

Heather. I remember your wandering posts so well. They were some of the first posts I read when I

found Gail's and I got hooked by reading your travelog. It's so good to hear from you.

Amen, 'twould be fun indeed. And yeh, I kinda feel like that's what I do nearly every

morning. My routine is get up, turn on the espresso machine, turn on the computer, make a latte, sit down at computer and enjoy latte while catching up at Finer Kitchens. Just love waking up that way.)

Heather, I have thought of you often and wondered how the bakery

was coming along. I'm so glad you stopped by to update us and am looking forward to pix.Congratulations. Please, where are you located? Would love to make a stop someday...Steph
