Traca, Voodoo Doughnuts is da bomb! Such a dive, but the line was out the door. Best buttermilk cake doughnut I've ever tasted.

This is an amazing city. I could see myself moving here. Yesterday I had rose petal tea and moon cakes at the tea house in the Chinese Gardens while the Bamboo and Orchid Chinese Ensemble played traditional Chinese music. I felt like I had been transported back in time. What a wonderful experience.

I have to say though, the Chinese food is a bit boring. Everyone was raving about Sungari Szechwan as the BEST in Portland. It was well prepared, but so bland. I asked for white pepper and chili oil and I think I insulted the waiter.

I'm going to try Apizza Scholls for dinner.

Richard, your description of the Chinese Gardens was wonderful. Definitely need to check it out

next time I'm in town. Glad to hear you enjoyed Voodoo as much as I do. smileys/smile.gif

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Apizza and the other spots you discover in PDX.

I remember these from many moons ago

When we'd spend summers in the NW as I was growing up. That was always the first place we'd want to visit. The second was the farmers market that would go on downtown. Is that still there? For this midwestern girl it was very educational to see the diverse people that showed up. Oh, and to see that a farmers market wasn't just corn and tomatoes!!!

Richard, are you going to hear the Portland Orchestra?

If you are, look for Mary Grant in the horn section- she is my Sister.

I guess the "official" name of her orchestra is the Oregon Symphony, not the Portland Orchestra.

I was going to go...

but they were doing pops stuff: Pink Panther, Dynasty, Falcon Crust, etc. I passed. Sorry I missed your sister playing. Too bad they weren't playing something good last weekend.
