Help... about a month ago there was a thread explaining how to save something to

the word processor. It worked for me, I saved several recipes but now have forgotten how it works!!

Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your help.

Richard gets the credit for this--it was new to me too. Choose the printable version of whatever

you want to save. Highlight the text and copy it. Go to your word processor program, i.e. Word, choose "Paste Special" from the Edit menu, then "Unformatted Text."

I've also found that choosing the printable version and copying it works really well for posting things from here to epi.

Hi Barb - First open your word processor and click on blank document (I just use Wordpad - it's

really easy, and the blank document comes right up), then highlight the recipe, right click COPY anywhere on the black highlighted area, then right click PASTE onto your document. (Occasionally the the format might look weird, ie, in HTML garb,- if so, click EDIT, (need to do that on Wordpad - may not have to on Word or others), then "PASTE SPECIAL" and choose TEXT format).
Then click "FILE" which is on top of your document, SAVE AS, and type in the name of the recipe in the box that says "FILE NAME." Then click SAVE.

You can also make folders, such as CAKES, PIES, SALADS, etc., and then put each recipe into the appropriate folder. But that's another story! Will help you with that if you want to do it.

Or...another option is to save as text, open later in word...

another option to save information is to simply from your file pulldown menu and choose the option: Save As, and then choose "Text file" and name it whatever you want. Then save in sub-folders like cookies, etc.

This will not save pictures but if, like me, we are talking recipes here it is a very quick way to save things as you are reading along through websites. Then later if you want a pretty version you can open it up using Word and re-save it in that format. I rarely do that unless it is something I use over and over or want to give to someone else. Most often I just use the notepad version (which on a PC is how it saves) as it will be completely readable. smileys/smile.gif
