HELP! Anyone know how to make cajeta?? Can't locate it here and need tonight...

Cajeta is made with goat's milk...

by simmering the the condensed milk you would get something closer to dulce de leche, but even then, not the real thing...

to get real cajeta, follow thelink above, hat's a pretty good recipe, but use only goat's milk - the recipe says an hour of stirring, but it can take more, patience and you will have a great cajeta!

of course, it may just be easierto go buy a jar!

Hi cheezz, I know this is too late, but I've found bottled cajeta in the

Mexican food aisle at Ralphs. The brand name is Coronado - it is a tan and beige label with a goat on it, with a maroon lid. It says Cajeta Quemada on the label.

Aye caramba! I went to Ralphs and couldn't find it... ended up making my own.

My co-worker is going to Tijuana this weekend and bringing me back the real stuff. I used my homemade to make the Miracle Margarita Flan Cake from the OC Register. WOW.... was it rich. A little slice is puh-lenty! Don't think I'd make it again, though... almost had a heart attack when I realized the butter and sugar involved smileys/smile.gif
