HELP - can you sub Thai basil for regular basil?

I am using in in a marinade and Caprese skewers and everyone was out of regular basil but I had already picked up a great big bag of Thai basil at the Asian market cheap. The leaves are certainly a better size for the skewers since most of the regular basil around here in the past few weeks have been giantic leaves.

Sure do it. I would just be a little bit more reserved in quantity. I think Thai basil is a bit

stronger in flavour.

I doubt that your guests would notice the difference.

anyone agree??

I agree absolutely. If anyone notices the difference, congratulate them and call it "fusion."

I agree going in this direction. But don't sub reg basil if the recipe calls for Thai

Thai has a milder taste and the amounts used in Thai recipes would overwhelm if that much regular anise-y basil were used.

But for your purpose, subbing Thai for regular basil will work.

How bizarre that you could find Thai and not regular. I had to look all over the creation to find it. Take this opportunity to make ValinFL's Spicy Thai Basil Chicken. It's delicious.

Has anyone ever planted Thai Basil? I am committed to trying a garden this year. Would love Thai

basil and Lemon Grass. Unfortunately, the Asian Market did not have the seeds.

Any thoughts/experience?

Best,
Barb
