Help. my stew is too sweet, what can I do..?

Beef ribs with Hoi sin sauce, garlic, onion, star anise, vinegar...

but when I taste it, it is too sweet, what should I do, add more vinegar???

You might try salt. Sugar has to be balanced with salt in savory dishes. To ensure you don't

oversalt it, take a portion out, add a little salt and taste it. If it helps, you can salt the entire pot.

i think more vinegar to taste is about it, but...

hoisin is supposed to be sweet.
