Help! Need some inspiration ...

what are you guys making for dinner?!

It seems as if the past two months have been spent driving my kids from one event to another and we've been packing food on the run -- ravioli, tacos, anything easy and quick. The kids have also been eating "unorthodox meals" of cantaloupe, grapes, marinated cheese balls, and pepperoni slices! I know, bad mommy -- help!

Toxic Mold in Pancake Batter -- is it just an urban legend?

My mother-in-law sent me that email about some child who died eating pancakes/waffles made from expired pancake mix (She's very sweet and well-meaning, but honestly ...). The mold in the pancake mix was allegedly toxic. I am assuming this is another one of those internet urban legends -- or has anything heard it is actually true?

I make Michael's buttermilk waffles from scratch, but there is a big Costco box of Bisquick in the pantry, too -- and honestly, I don't know if it's expired.

If in doubt you can look up that kind of thing at Snopes.com

For this one, I just typed "pancake" in the search box to find any urban legends related to pancakes. There were a few; this was the second or third on the search results.

Reading this Snopes article, apparently it's true that this can happen but only to people who are allergic to mold. It's not toxic to the general population, only to people who already have this allergy. Like my dad who is allergic to pennicillin. The moral is "If you don't have a mold allergy, you needn't fear your pancake mix."

If you don't have a mold allergy, you needn't fear your pancake mix. LOL

Not to make light of mold allergies, but the "fear of pancake mix" just struck me as funny. Mimi, may I use this in my signature?
