My method is not scientific...but it works for me
I also have a stack of "to try" recipes. I keep them in a cupboard for easy access. However, I keep downloading recipes to try, so the pile gets huge. I sit down while watching TV and go through the pile every few months. Sometimes I wonder why I downloaded a recipe and put it in the toss file. It clears the pile out nicely.
I have two huge white binders full of recipes I have tried and are worthy of making again. Plus, there is the favorite family recipe binder, which is recipes from long ago that our children loved. Then there is the smaller binder of unusual recipes from long ago, like Aunt Emma's marinara sauce, or grandma's bread and butter pickles.
All are neatly stored in a piece of furniture designed for cookbooks and a kitchen TV, for easy access to the kitchen table where I can plop them down to find what I am looking for.
