frosting. I meant to save it but didn't and now I can't find it. I think it was called Devil's

Food cake but am not sure. And someone posted that they needed to get up the nerve to do the frosting.

Anyone remember that?

I did want to make that cake.

TIA

Hi Elaine, that was me! I did make it and it was wonderful!

I baked the cake layers a couple of days ahead and put them in the fridge. I got up the nerve to do the frosting and I really liked it. However, I am not sure it was exactly right. I cooked the sugar and water but it didn't want to get up to the specified temp, it turned amber first. I used it anyway so my frosting was not pure snowy white, just a tad off white instead. No one was the wiser. I really liked the frosting because it was not super sticky-sweet. The end product looked almost exactly like the picture and my guests were impressed!

I had frosting left over and I think that was wrong. I did not pile enough between the layers so be generous when frosting.

Let us know if you try it!

PS Thanks to Marilyn for finding this link smileys/smile.gif

Hi Barbara

I just bought the book that featured this (Dori Greenspan) - let me know if there are other recipes you want!

Deb

Thanks Deb! DH bought me a copy too, he encourages baking--not sure if that is good or bad smileys/smile.gif

I also tried the Chocolate Gingerbread and that is wonderful too. Chocolate and ginger are deadly partners!

Have you tried anything yet?

ONLY 25?!! Seriously, I think I have closer to 100... gotta quit my job and bake more smileys/smile.gif
