Help with cookies, please. I made the dough for these shortbread cookies and it's chilling.

I suggest trying one tray of your shortbread cookies with dollops of jam in the thumbprints. . .

And see how they go. I would think that this would be ok, but I would keep a close eye on them; maybe the jam might dry out too much?

Most of the thumbprint cookie recipes I have seen call for baking the jam with the cookie, for the whole time of baking the cookie, so I would think it would work with this recipe.
