I want to add a little dusting of glitter dust to a chocolate cake with a white-ish malt icing. I think I need to add some, how much? vodka to some, how much? glitter and then use a toothbrush to "spray" it onto the sides of the cake, like in the pic below. No clue if this is how I should go about it. Would love to know if you tried this and if you had any success?

When I paint with it I just mix with vodka till I have it the consistency I like. Other than using some kind of spray (do they make that?), one would think it might clog an airbrush, that’s probably what I would try to get that effect, but I don’t have an airbrush. I’d use a turntable to apply with a brush, but pretty sure the brushstrokes would show. This looks sprayed to me, but I’m no expert by any means.

Another idea is to use edible gold leaf and put hunks of it on the sides. I’ve done that and it’s very easy. This is a watercolor icing I did with gold leaf and sprinkles.
